Tafi To Strengthen Sa-india Relationships

21st January 2013

It was scheduled to take place in Durban from October 5-8 last year but was postponed and will now take place just before the BRICS forum, being held in the city in March.

Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) won the bid to host TAFI for its annual Convention for 2012. The event is sponsored by Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN) in conjunction with the KZN Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

“TAFI represents the bulk of the major travel agencies and companies in India and it is seriously important that they are well hosted in Durban and gain a positive ‘hands-on’ personal experience of the city and province of KZN,” said a statement by SATSA.

The theme of the convention is ‘Navigating the Future’ and discussions will include the future of commissions, new strategies for credit cards and the importance of good air access.

"In India, travel agents prefer to sell products of which they have had personal experience, therefore the opportunity to see and experience South African product will give all those who participate in this convention a significant marketing edge in this growing market," said Michael Tatalias, SATSA CEO.

Bunny Bhoola of African Link Tours has been appointed to act as the Professional Conference Organiser on behalf of SATSA and all bookings and arrangements will be handled by African Link Tours.
